Patron Santa María del Rosario
The Villa de Bornos has as its Patron Saint María Santísima del Rosario, whose Association and Archconfraternity was founded by the Prior of the Convent of Santo Domingo de Jerez, in the mid-18th century. Since then, the image has been in procession on the first Sunday of October, at sunset, having celebrated the Solemn Function that the entire town dedicates to it on the morning of the same day. These cults are completed with other equally ancient and traditional: the Novena to the Virgen del Rosario (prior to the big day of the festival) and the Rosario de la Aurora, which at dawn every Sunday of the month of October, runs through Bornos singing and praying the mysteries that the Immaculate Virgin revealed to Santo Domingo de Guzmán.
The artistic considerations of the image, which is from the 18th century and an anonymous author, are worthy of a point and apart: it responds in almost everything to the traditional iconography of the dedication, with a red and crystalline face of serene beauty, which reflects a joyous peace ; but the curious detail, as well as original, is that the Child Jesus, who rests in his arms, is peacefully asleep
